As a makeup artist, each face I work on tells a unique story, and Althea Antonio’s recent victory added a special chapter to my journey in the world of beauty and glamor. Althea, a diligent Engineering student from Mapua, entrusted me with the task of enhancing her natural beauty for a significant event – her debut in the world of pageantry.
Althea’s connection with my work started through her mother, a previous client who appreciated my makeup services. The trust they placed in me extended to Althea’s pageant debut, a pivotal moment in her life. The responsibility was not just about applying makeup; it was about being part of a transformative experience that would be etched in Althea’s memory forever.
Her decision to join the pageant was rooted in a desire for personal growth and stepping out of her comfort zone. In her own words, “I honestly joined the pageant solely for experience, and since the offer was there, why not grab it, di ba po? I used to hate being in the spotlight, but as I grow up, I realize that sometimes being in the spotlight is a good thing.” Althea’s wisdom reflected a profound understanding of personal development and embracing new opportunities.
On the day of the pageant, I had the privilege of collaborating with Althea to create a look that not only complemented her features but also aligned with her personality. We aimed for a balance between sophistication and youthful charm, ensuring her confidence radiated from within. The joy on her face as she looked in the mirror post-makeup affirmed the magic that makeup can bring to one’s self-esteem.
Althea’s victory wasn’t just a personal triumph; it was a testament to her leadership skills and resilience. Beyond the makeup chair, she was an active member of Mapua Cardinal One Team, serving in the recruitment unit. Additionally, her role as a logistic committee member in the EECE Student Council showcased her commitment to both her academic and extracurricular pursuits.
Her involvement in organizations such as Google Developers Student Club and Mapua – ICpEP.SC demonstrated a holistic approach to personal and professional development. As a makeup artist, witnessing the success of someone like Althea, who embraces challenges and seeks growth, is incredibly rewarding.
